We remember them as cute, fun characters smelling of strawberry shampoo, but our childhood heroes grow up just like we do. And, like many child stars, the rest of their careers rarely go the way we imagine…

After a life of debauchery, alcohol, drugs, and chainsaws, the great heroes of pop-culture have lost their innocence and have grown up to be tough guys worthy of Chuck Norris.

The collection “Badass Cartoons,” compiles the Tohad’s illustrations parodying some of the most well known characters from the universes of animation, comics, and video games.

The entire collection is soon to be a high-quality book. Explore More ...

Swing You Sinners!

Swing You Sinners!
Swing You Sinners! Swing You Sinners!

Animated by Ted Sears and Willard Bowsky, with an eye-popping surreal ending by Grim Natwick, “Swing, You Sinners” was the first of many Fleischer cartoons that mixed surrealism, cartoony ghosts & goblins, and hot jazz. While other studios built their cartoons around fairy tale stories or topical gags, the Fleischers constructed cartoons in the same way jazz music was constructed… statement of the theme, a series of variations and a big finish.

Betty Boop’s Hallowe’en Party

Betty Boop's Hallowe'en Party

It is Halloween, and Jack Frost (in his ice-covered airplane) covers the fields with frost. A chilly scarecrow plucks a wind-blown piece of paper out of the air; it is an invitation to Betty's Hallowe'en party ("p.s., Bring Your Lunch"). Betty is mass-producing jack o'lanterns with the help of her animal friends. The partygoers arrive, and join with Betty in song. Meanwhile, a hulking gorilla gatecrashes the party, and threatens to ruin the evening. Betty and friends turn the table on the beast, and scare him out the party.

Eerie Publications vs Johnson-Smith Novelty Horror Record

Eerie Publications vs Johnson-Smith Novelty Horror Record Eerie Publications vs Johnson-Smith Novelty Horror Record

A parallel universe alliance between Eerie Publications and the 1973 Johnson-Smith Novelty Company "Horror Record." This lurid mess is a short film that made around Halloween of 2010. It marries the audio from what is probably the Worst/Best horror record (mail ordered from a comic book ad) with visuals culled from the crude and gruesome cover art favored by the company that gave me nightmares as a child, Eerie Publications.
