The story takes place in and around Whoville, on a night known as "Grinch Night", which commences when a "Sour-Sweet Wind" blows and sets off the pink colored Gree-Grumps, who live in tree stumps near Puncker's Pond, to start growling, which also causes Puncker's Pond to runkle and grunkle, which gets the green colored Hakken-Krakks, who live in Punkers Pond, to start howling. The Gree-Grumps's growling and the Hakken-Krakks's howling annoys The Grinch into terrorizing the Whos. As the story opens, the Sour-Sweet Wind is just beginning to blow when Euchariah, a polite little Who with a slight astigmatism, goes to use the outhouse (referred to as "the euphemism" in the story), but is swept away to Mt. Crumpit by the wind.
Pink Elephants on Parade is the name of a segment, and the song played therein, from the Disney animated feature film Dumbo in which Dumbo and Timothy Q. Mouse, after accidentally becoming intoxicated (after drinking water spiked with Champagne), see pink elephants sing, dance, and play marching band instruments during a hallucination sequence.

Rhode Montijo's successful children's book The Halloween Kid is a half-hour animated Halloween special! The special is being animated by Japan's Sanzigen (Black Rock Shooter, Cyborg 009) which is a part of Ultra Super Pictures, and produced in collaboration with Crooked Smile (David Choe and Good Smile Company). The screenplay is written by storyboard artist Jamie Baker.

"Disney's Halloween Treat" is a 47-minute Halloween-themed clip show which first aired on The Wonderful World of Disney in 1982 and featured a compilation of Disney animated shorts involving spooky or supernatural themes as well as excerpted segments from Disney feature films. The credits also featured footage from Disney's Haunted Mansion ride. The special was narrated by a jack-o'-lantern puppet, which was also used in an educational short to talk about Halloween safety called Disney's Haunted Halloween.
